HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Some families are dealing with a huge challenge -- helping a child who is suffering from cancer.  But there is a way you can help them.

Swing 'Fore' Children With Cancer is an upcoming golf tournament to benefit the Dr. Frank Crim Compassion Fund.

The fund originated about five years ago to help local families deal with needs that are separate from a child's medical treatment.

For instance, a child's chemotherapy or radiation treatment may be covered, but a family often has many other expenses if one parent has to quit his or her job to care for the child.  This fund helps with those expenses.

The tournament is June 18 at The Ledges.  It's $250 for a two-person team, and these can include father and child, grandfather and grandchild, etc.  Make it a family event!

There's a lunch, and then teams will tee off at 1 p.m.  Supper will follow.

Call Dr. Frank Crim's office at (256) 539-4079 to register, and please leave a message if no one answers.  You can also call The Ledges at (256) 883-4191.

A portion of the fee is tax-deductible.
