TENNESSEE VALLEY (WHNT) – To address the growing problem of hunger as a result of poverty or natural disaster, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host their annual food drive on Saturday, May 10 in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service and the Food Bank of North Alabama.
It’s easy to participate. Simply leave non-perishable food items near your mailbox in the morning on the 10th and your neighborhood letter carrier will collect them. Your donations will be sent to the Food Bank, where they will be inspected for food safety reasons and redistributed to churches and civic groups that provide hunger and disaster relief to residents of north Alabama.
Especially useful are canned fruits, vegetables and high-protein items such as tuna or canned chicken.

The drive is the largest one-day food collection event in the nation.
