COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Colbert County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that left one teen in critical condition Friday night.

Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May says the shooting happened at a home on Jones Road in Colbert County Friday evening and may have been part of a prank gone wrong among a group of teenagers.

According to the sheriff, the victim is a 15-year-old male, Jesse Rainey of Colbert County.

Investigators say the shooting happened during a prank.  Rainey was shot at close range.

Sheriff May told WHNT News 19 that Rainey is being treated in the ICU at UAB Children’s Hospital.

Rainey is currently listed in critical condition.
