Two Former Auburn Players Killed In Shooting, Third Recovering

UPDATE Sunday at 1:13PM:  Auburn Police have identified the victims and the man who is the subject of a manhunt in Montgomery.

The men killed in the shooting were 20-year-old Edward Christian, 20-year-old Ladarious Phillips and 20-year-old Demario Pitts.  20-year-old John Robertson is fighting for his life.  20-year-old Eric Mack is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  19-year-old Xavier Moss was treated and released.

Police say there is an active manhunt for 22-year-old Desmonte Leonard.  They believe he is in the Montgomery area.  Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.

The shooting happened in Auburn late Saturday night, at the University Heights apartment complex on Longleaf Drive. 

Our news partners, The Huntsville Times, report two former Auburn University football players, Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips, were killed.  A third football player, Eric Mack, was shot but is expected to recover.  Mack is a current player and is being treated at a local hospital.

We understand two other people, perhaps more, may have also been shot.

There may have been one or more shooters. It's not clear if anyone is in custody yet.  Sources say the gunmen were not affiliated with the Auburn football program.
