FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - University of North Alabama Police are investigating claims of an attempted gang rape in an on-campus apartment.

So far, UNA investigators questioned two men about the rape allegations, but no arrests have been made.

Police say the alleged attack happened on February 21st on Circular Drive.

"From the story she told, she got up to go to the bathroom and they came up, threw her on the bed and tried to take advantage of her.  She fought them off, ran out the door, called 911," said UNA Police Chief, Bob Pastula.

Pastula says the victim met the students while partying at a bar in Muscle Shoals.

According to detectives, the victim is a woman in her 40s.

"Their story and hers, as you can imagine, are diametrically opposed,” said Pastula. “They have a different story than she has.  They say she got up to go to the bathroom and she wanted to sleep with them, and they didn't want to sleep with her."

According to the UNA Police Chief, the victim did not report any injuries from the incident.

Police say four other men were inside the apartment at the time of the reported attack.  Detectives have questioned those witnesses as part of their investigation.
