Two dead after Saturday Muscle Shoals house fire

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Two people are dead after a house fire in Muscle Shoals early Saturday morning.

According to investigators, the fire was reported just before 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Muscle Shoals Police Chief Clint Reck said Kirk Burcham, 54, and Marcel Carney, 95, died due to injuries sustained in the fire.

When Muscle Shoals firefighters got to the home at 403 Dearborn Avenue, they entered the home through a bedroom window.

Investigators stated one resident was found in the bedroom and a second person was found in another part of the home.

One was airlifted to UAB Hospital and the other transported to Helen Keller Hospital.

Investigators said it appears the fire started in near an oven in the kitchen, and the fire has been ruled accidental.
