Two found dead at Lauderdale County home

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. – Authorities are investigating the deaths of two people at a Lauderdale County home.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said the bodies of a man and woman were found Wednesday in a car behind a home on County Road 456 in Center Hill between Lexington and Killen.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims as James Ridgeway,40, and Carrie Ridgeway, 38. Authorities said they were husband and wife.

A family member had come to the home to check on the people who live there and discovered the bodies, authorities said.

Authorities said they were conducting a death investigation and determined both died from a gunshot wound. According to police, the last time someone had contact with them was on August 2.

According to detectives, they are unable to say for certain if the deceased found in the vehicle are the people who are missing.

Sheriff’s investigators say they believe the deceased had been in the vehicle behind the home for several days. Those working the scene say there is heavy decomposition and detectives have had to wear hazmat suits to work the scene.

The deceased will be taken to the state forensics lab for identification and determining the cause of death.
