TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT)- A late night crash in the Spring Valley community sent one man to the hospital.

State Troopers tell WHNT News 19  37-year-old Benny James Lawrence was traveling on LaGrange Road (County Road 77) when his truck left the road and traveled about a  long distance before crashing into the area Water Department. There was an ATV on a trailer attached to the back.

They released surveillance video of the incident Monday morning.

Officials at the scene said Lawrence was trapped in his truck for about 30 minutes before Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department workers could free him. He was transported to Helen Keller Hospital in stable condition. He was released Monday morning.

There is damage to the front of the Water Department building and fence. A department truck was also damaged in the crash. Fire Chief Keith Reaves said Lawrence just barely missed his department building, knocking down some signs and the mailbox.

The SVFD posted a thank you note on Twitter Monday to their fellow area firefighters who responded Sunday.

Surveying the damage Monday, crews have already started making repairs. Workers at the crash site said the damage could have been worse.

Both the driver and the Water Department's insurance companies have been out to survey the damage. They say insurance should be able to cover most of the damage, but if they don't, the Water Department will absorb the rest of the cost.

No water customers were impacted by the crash.

State Troopers will continue to look into just how fast Lawrence was driving when he veered off the road.
