UPDATE: Victims of Sheffield wreck identified

SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT)-  Three people died in an early morning car crash in Sheffield Sunday.   Sheffield Police tell WHNT News 19 that the crash happened around 2a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Highway and 28th Street.

Police say the vehicle hit a pole at the intersection and split in two.

Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley told WHNT News 19 the victims were Montoy Debarge Vaughan, 27, of Macon, GA; Jeremiah Dashaun Booth, 22, of Kingsland, GA; and Desmond Lamar Varnon, 40, of Muscle Shoals.

Sunday was also Vaughan’s birthday.

Utley said their vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident and all three men were ejected from the car. The cause of their deaths was blunt force trauma.
