MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) – Shoals resident Tommie Dimps believes a smile can make a difference.

"The judges told me that they were just excited about, the way I act, my smile and everybody told me my smile was magical,” said Dimps.

Tommie Dimps represented Cypress Cove nursing home at the Ms. Alabama Nursing Home pageant. Dimps says her smile came back when she moved to Cypress Cove and that's why she didn't think twice about representing the nursing home.

"I love walking around people's rooms and just making them happy. I do. Cause one day somebody walked into my room and made me happy. I have never seen people that are as caring as the people here at Cypress Cove," said Dimps.

The pageant was a celebration of life and residents of the nursing home community. Out of 10 contestants, Dimps was selected as second runner-up.

"The sky is the limit. You know, you can do anything you want to do. All you have to do is put your mind into and put your heart into. You have to put that heart into it or it's not going to work," said Dimps.

Dimps was one out of three Shoals residents who competed in the pageant.
