SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) -A new family could use some help recovering after a fatal accident left two members injured.

Tabatha Haswell has two young kids of her own, but has taken it upon herself to take care of her younger cousins. However, the transition hasn't been easy.

"Last Wednesday Shaylee had come in with me permanently," Haswell said. "Saturday is when the wreck occurred."

Shaylee Kelley and her brother Logan are recovering after a serious wreck left their Aunt dead at the scene. According to the teen, her aunt made a left turn and was hit by oncoming traffic at Helton Drive and Rickwood Road in Florence.

"Shaylee was in the front passenger's seat, she sustained a broken pelvic bone in five places, broken forearm, so she'll be in a wheelchair for about eight weeks. Logan was in the backseat. He is pretty bruised up, sore, but he has three stitches in his knee."

Haswell has recently taken in the two and their brother for family reasons. In June, Shaylee was reported missing by the Tuscumbia Police Department. When officials found her, Haswell got custody of the 17-year-old.

Now, she had to quit her job to care for her cousins, and she could use a helping hand.

"Any help at all would help," she said. "Any financial help. We're stable, we're good, but anything would be able to help since I'm out of work now."

It's safe to say it has been a rough couple of months for the new family. But, with the support of family and friends, Haswell said they'll be just fine.

However, if you want to help with hospital bills or even Medflight bills, the family has set up an account. You can donate here.
