Power restored in Colbert County after overnight copper theft

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Utility crews in the Shoals spent the morning working to restore power in a community after an overnight copper wiring theft.

Steve Hargrove with Sheffield Utilities said someone broke into one of their substations and took underground copper wire and other items causing a power outage in the Ford City area.

Hargrove said calls started coming in around 6:00a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Colbert County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
