FLORENCE, Ala. – The Shoals Area Crime Stoppers have announced a reward for information that will help police find and prosecute the driver on an SUV who hit and killed a man in a wheelchair. The driver left the scene of the Friday night wreck.

The wreck happened in the 2300 block of Cloyd Boulevard. Investigators say Kevin Doherty, 57, was going down the road on his wheelchair when a small, light-colored SUV hit him. An air ambulance flew Doherty to Huntsville Hospital where he died a short time later. Doherty was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when the driver hit him head-on.

Investigators believe the driver left the scene heading west, then turned south on Mall road.
