KILLEN, Ala. – Two people were killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Killen on Monday morning.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said a family member found Reggie and Lisa Balentine shot to death inside a home on Westfork Drive.  They were in the dining room.

“It’s very sad. The female victim, her sister is the one that found them. So, it’s bad enough for someone to commit suicide but then to take the life of someone else makes it even more tragic,” said Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Richard Richey.

Investigators say it appears Reggie Balentine shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.  Family members said the husband had been dealing with recent health issues.

Prior to this incident, there had been no reports of domestic violence in the home.

Investigators plan to release the couple’s names later today.
