400-Acre Fire Burning in Colbert, Franklin Counties

COLBERT & FRANKLIN COUNTIES, Ala. (WHNT) – Several fire departments are working to contain a large grass fire between Littleville & Russellville.

The fire started around 11:50 a.m. Friday.  According to Emergency Management officials, the fire started in Franklin County and moved north to the area of Twin Pines Golf Course near Littleville.

Residents of the Twin Pines subdivision on Osborn Hill Road were evacuated for a short time while firefighters put out flames near some homes.

Emergency responders say the fire has burned more than 400 acres, but they’re getting closer to having it contained.

According to our news partners The Huntsville Times/Al.com, as of 4 p.m., firefighters from Alabama Forestry, Littleville, Colbert Heights, Spring Valley, LaGrange, White Oak and New Bethel were involved in the effort to put out the fire.
