(WHNT) — Officials are continuing to investigate after a woman was killed last week in an apparent hit-and-run in Florence.

Police say the incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on Chisholm Road, just south of Rasch Road.

Officers say 56-year-old Lori Lynne Avery was found dead at the scene, saying it appeared she had been struck by a passing car. Authorities collected debris from the scene and determined the vehicle was a Nissan Altima.

On Sunday, December 26, an officer found a 2007 Altima in the 100 block of Kirkman Street with damage consistent with a collision. Officers got a search warrant for the vehicle, and it was towed to the Florence Police Department for processing.

Officials are still trying to identify the driver.

Anyone with more information related to the incident should contact the Florence Police Department at 256-760-6597 or 256-760-6610.
