TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) – Underwood Mountain Road in Tuscumbia has reopened after a large brush fire on Sunday. The fire was contained but still smoking Monday afternoon.

Officials with Colbert County EMA said a large brush fire in the area of Underwood Mountain Road, between Lime Rock Road and the south entrance of Claunch Loop, caused the road to be closed for a day.

Tim Isbell with New Bethel Fire told News 19 that roughly 4.5 acres have burned as of Monday morning and crews will continue to monitor the fire for several days or weeks, depending on the weather. No evacuations have been made yet, but there is one house in the area.

Law enforcement officials said they will continue to monitor the area.

Those driving on the road should be aware there will be forestry units in the area and moderate smoke at times, according to the Colbert County EMA. Drivers should use caution in the area.
