FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - While no one likes paying a traffic ticket, Florence Police along with Florence Municipal Court is making that process as pain-free as possible.

Drivers can now pay that fine online at

“Anything we can do to get people to pay those on time so warrants aren`t issued for their arrest,” said Chief Ron Tyler with the Florence Police Department.  “It does prevent them from having to come down and pay it in person, so it`s not only more convenient for the folks in municipal court, but for the drivers as well.”

In the past, court clerks only accepted cash or money orders.

Clerks processed payments from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but that schedule wasn't always convenient for everyone.

“If someone`s from out of town or if someone is a college student, they work during the day and just can`t get away, we hope this is an option or an alternative where they can get that citation paid in a timely manner,” said Chief Tyler about the system that just went online this week.

When stopped on the street, officers will be alerting drivers to this new 24-hour a day, quick pay option.  Officers will place a neon sticker including the web address and phone number, on the bottom of the citation.

More serious traffic offenses like reckless driving are exempt from this quick-pay option.
