Dispute Leads To Deputy-Involved Fatal Shooting In Lauderdale County

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that happened just after 9:00 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies tell WHNT News 19, the shooting happened on County Road 277 in the Central Heights Community, and started with an argument between neighbors.  Deputies say they responded to a disturbance call.  According to Sheriff Ronnie Willis, a deputy  approached the home and shot the man.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate. Sheriff Willis says the deputy has been placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation results by the ABI.

Family members tell us the victim is 31-year-old Mitchel Keith Campbell.
