TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) – Family members were called to the stand Thursday morning in an attempt to get bail reduced for Charles Kyle Adcock.
Adcock faces more than two dozen charges of rape and sodomy, while employed as a youth minister in Muscle Shoals.
Shackled and chained, 31-year-old Kyle Adcock was escorted to the Colbert County courthouse Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing and bond reduction hearing.
Arrested in August, Adcock is accused of raping and sodomizing a fourteen year old girl while he was youth minister at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church from 2010 until 2012.
Since his return to Colbert County from Texas, Adcock has remained in jail on bail totaling $650,000.
At his 9 a.m. hearing, Adcock waived his right to have a preliminary hearing and the court went straight into a bond reduction hearing.
During the hearing, Adcock’s parents took the stand.
They testified if bond was reduced for their son, they would supervise him if he’s allowed to go back to Texas with them.
Adcock’s mother also testified if he’s allowed to go to Texas, he would have a job waiting for him.
District attorney Bryce Graham requested during the hearing Judge Chad Coker take into account the nature of the alleged crime, the danger Adcock presents, and the fact he should not leave the state.
After the hearing, Bill Clark who represents Adcock said his client adamantly denies the charges against him.
Late Thursday afternoon, Judge Chad Coker decided to deny the bond reduction for Kyle Adcock.
However if he does get released on bail, he can live in Texas with his family under certain stipulations.
Thursday morning, Adcock allowed investigators to obtain a DNA sample to determine if evidence they have from the church matches his.
