A group of volunteers in the Shoals has stepped up to build another home for a family in need.

The committee found a mother who was struggling to take care of her daughter alone in Killen.

The volunteer coordinator, Barbara Austin says Amanda Redding and her child Autumn are deserving recipients.

Funds have already been offered from donors from a previous project.

Long-Lewis Ford agreed to give $1,500 toward a vehicle for the family, if other dealers will help also.

The organizers of the project plan to build a handicap accessible home for Redding and her daughter, plus her aging parents.

Work will begin soon.

Crews will tear down an existing house where the family lives.

The group is asking church, businesses and donors to help with expenses.

As a 501c-3 project, donations can be made to any Bank Independent location or TVA Credit Union under the name “Amanda and Autumn’s Christmas Surprise”.
