Sheriff’s Office responds to bomb threat at Marshall County Courthouse, courthouse closed Thursday


MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. – A bomb threat at the Marshall County Courthouse in Guntersville cause officials to close the building on Thursday.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says deputies discovered a note around 9:45 Thursday morning indicating a bomb was somewhere in the courthouse. Everyone was evacuated from the building and some nearby businesses were secured.

Investigators say the building was cleared and there was also a secondary search. A K-9 unit continued a “slow search” into early afternoon.

Investigators are looking into the origin of the note.

The courthouse should be open for business as planned on Friday.
