BESSEMER, Ala.  – One person died in a wreck involving an Amtrak train and a dump truck on Friday in Bessemer.  The person who died was the driver of the dump truck.

The accident happened at a railroad crossing at 32nd Street and Carolina Avenue in Bessemer, according to WIAT, the CBS affiliate in Birmingham.

A news station in Baton Rouge told WIAT a large group of LSU fans were on that train. They said some may have gotten off the train in Tuscaloosa, but more than 50 were still on the train when the collision happened. The fans are from Baton Rouge and Prairieville.

Bessemer Police say the railroad crossing arms were working at the time of the crash. They are investigating further.
