HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - More than 50 million Americans ran at least once last year. If you weren't one of them, there is still time for you to lace up and hit the road.

Huntsville is the place to race for runners of all levels.

"Everyone here seems to be so active that we all get out we all run," said Dee Selman of Fleet Feet Huntsville.

The increase in activity level is thanks in large part to the variety of races available in the area.

From dye to doughnuts and zombies to glow sticks, these clever courses up the fun, shorten the distance and eliminate time.

"Making it just easier for people to be able to accomplish it and not have that pressure of having to get it done and feel like they have to be the fastest out there," said Selman. "They're just doing it for fun and to be active."

If you are not quite ready to participate in races, Selman says you should still come out and cheer on the runners.

"It's great to get out there and just be a spectator," said Selman. "That's how a lot of people, when they come in here, they say 'I saw this race, I saw you guys running and it looked like so much fun.'"

This weekend's races include Eurocross, Mountain Deux, Our Kids 5K Run, Mountain Mania and Mud Run.
