MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – Huntsville Fire & Rescue says they rescued four kayakers from the McMullen Cove area Saturday night.

When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found two people stranded on “an island area” and two people hanging on a tree.

They were able to drive a vehicle near the area where the kayakers were stranded. Officials say they used water rescue bags to bring them to safety.

Emergency crews say nobody was injured. The kayakers told emergency crews they were scared for their safety because it got dark faster than expected.
