Today: Tests on Redstone Arsenal may cause smoke plumes visible for miles

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. – The Redstone Test Center wants to warn Huntsville residents, and others who drive by the military installation, they may see thick plumes of smoke coming from the area today. No one should be concerned; it is just a test.

The tests will begin Tuesday morning. The smoke may be seen all over the Arsenal as well as surrounding areas.

While WHNT News 19 hasn’t been told exactly what tests will be done today to cause the smoke plumes, engineers tell us the plumes are often caused by fire/temperature tests. This is Steve Johnson’s Defending America report on the subject:
