North Alabama man to challenge U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks for District 5 seat in Congress

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Dr. Will Boyd of Florence, Ala., is seeking the nomination of the Democratic party for the position of U.S. Representative for 5th Congressional District of Alabama. The Democrat has a past in politics, but currently serves as the pastor of St. Mark’s Missionary Baptist Church in Florence.

Boyd announced his candidacy at Yellowhammer Brewing in Huntsville on Thursday night. His announcement was preceded by short speeches of Madison County Democrats currently in office, including Tax Collector Linda Hall.

Formerly involved in politics in Illinois, Boyd says he is here to bring change to the county. You can read more about his campaign on his website,, which went live on Thursday.
