JACKSON COUNTY, Ala — A small plane crashed near the Tennessee state line in Bridgeport according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash took place in a field across from Big Daddy’s Outdoors on Highway 72 around 4 p.m.

Bridgeport police, State Troopers, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were all called to the scene.

Officials said the pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing, possibly due to low fuel, when the plane hit a muddy area and flipped.

Officials said the pilot and a passenger suffered minor injuries.

Jackson County officials are investigating as the plane crashed on the Alabama side of the state line.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be at the scene tomorrow to investigate.
