MADISON COUNTY, Ala. — Authorities confirm one person has died following a two-vehicle wreck in Madison County Saturday.
The wreck took place at 1:50 p.m. on U.S. 72 at the intersection with Dug Hill Road at the 106 mile marker seven miles east of Huntsville.
Troopers say 85-year-old John Ed Stone, of Huntsville was killed when the 2013 GMC Sierra, in which he was a passenger in, collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 51-year old William Kuzy, of Hazel Green.
Troopers say Stone was not using a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Kuzy, along with three other passengers in his vehicle, were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The driver of the 2013 GMC Sierra was 85-year-old Bertha K. Humphrey, of Owens Cross Roads. She was also injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Authorities will continue to investigate.
