MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Saying yes to the dress is the highlight for any bride.

But the moment no bride wants to experience is her fiance calling off the wedding.

Five days before her wedding, Shelby Swink of Memphis experienced that heartbreak and joined a new trend.

It’s called–‘Trash the Dress’.

“I sent her a Facebook message, and I said, ‘I don’t know if this is something you would even consider doing or if you even be comfortable doing but what about a trash the dress?” said Elizabeth Hoard , Owner of Elizabeth Hoard Photography.

It was too late to return the dress so Swink and her wedding photographer Elizabeth Hoard decided to have a “trash the dress” photo shoot, and the photos from it have gone viral.

“It doesn’t matter what happens in life as long as you stay true to yourself and don’t dwell on the negative and focus on the future you’re going to get through anything.” said Shelby Swink.

Shelby’s dress is displayed at Barefoot Bride for the first part of the year.

A portion of proceeds from the shop’s sales will go to ‘Be Free Revolution’.
