LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Authorities are searching for a suspect after a multi-vehicle police chase early Monday morning.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said that around 3 a.m. Monday a deputy attempted to pull over an RV and a car near the Underwood area.
Both vehicles fled the deputy and a chase began. During the chase, the RV and car went in separate directions. Deputies were able to lay out spike strips and get the car pulled over. LCSO said the driver of that vehicle was arrested while the passenger was released.
However, LCSO said the driver of the RV has yet to be found. The Sheriff’s Office, along with the Florence-Lauderdale SWAT team, were on the scene where the RV is located this morning causing a portion of Highway 157 to close for several hours.
LCSO said the RV was gassed but no one was inside and they have yet to search the vehicle. Currently, K-9 units are being sent out to search for the suspect.
Despite the search, both lanes of Highway 157 have reopened.
