HORTON, Ala. (WHNT) — A two-vehicle crash that blocked off traffic at a Marshall County intersection on Tuesday resulted in one person’s death.

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent confirmed the man driving one of the vehicles, 34-year-old Arturo Franco Orozco, of Albertville, died at the scene.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened around 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31. Troopers say Orozco’s Honda Civic collided with a Mack truck.

The truck’s driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The intersection of Alabama Highway 75 and Horton Nixon Chapel Road was blocked for an extended period of time while emergency crews and law enforcement worked the scene.

Troopers said the road was reopened just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
