MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — Law enforcement confirmed that a truck drove over a cliff at Cox Gap Road at Fairview Road, near Highway 79.

This happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  Douglas Police, Alabama State Troopers, Nixon Chapel Fire Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded.

State Troopers confirmed that 34-year-old Daniel George Antoine of Albertville was killed when the 1977 GMC truck he was driving left the road and drove into a ravine.

Authorities say he was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said that although they continue to investigate the crash, preliminary investigation indicated that speed was a factor in the crash.
