GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- It's dubbed one of the largest tournaments of its kind in the southeast and this Saturday the Spring2Summer wakeboarding tournament will be going on in Guntersville.

"It's an amateur event but we have a lot of pro riders that come and either do a demo or compete for the prize money," Event organizer Dustin Middlebrooks says. "New up and comers are coming in as well, some that are on the pro tour and just getting their name out there so they'll be here. We've had the same riders coming for the last eight years and we get new ones every year."

Spring2Summer kicks off Friday night in Guntersville with a pre party and a chance to register for the competition. "That's going to be at the Pointe Bar and Grill at the Val Monte marina and that starts at seven o'clock this evening and runs until ten o'clock," Middlebrooks says, "Tomorrow is the actual tournament behind the boat, we'll be behind these G23s that's behind us and it starts at nine o'clock and registration starts at eight and that runs until about seven-thirty, eight o'clock at night."

The event is free and it's located at the boat ramp on Thomas Avenue off of Highway 79 near the Publix in Guntersville. There will be food vendors and activities for kids during the event on Saturday.

The cost is $60 to register for the competition.
