Sheriff’s Office confirms body recovered after apparent drowning in Lake Guntersville

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – A man died of possible drowning in Lake Guntersville on Thursday.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s office said witnesses saw a man slide off a pier near Riverbend Marina, where he apparently drowned.

Officials said the man’s body was recovered after being in the water for around 20 minutes.

Guntersville Police are handling the investigation.

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent will determine the man’s official cause of death.

Guntersville Police Chief Jim Peterson said they would release more information after the next-of-kin are notified.
