ARAB, Ala. -- A ribbon cutting at Progress Rail's new location in Arab made the move official Monday morning.

State and local officials joined Progress Rail executives in a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning at the company's new location. "Currently we've created 57 new jobs here and we think it will grow from there, and I think the 57 actually exceeds our commitment to the state slightly that we made," said Progress Rail president and CEO Billy Ainsworth. "We think it's going to grow and we're excited about the opportunity to be here."

Progress Rail is an international company headquartered in neighboring Albertville.

The company's expansion in the same county is something Arab city leaders say is a good opportunity for the community, creating stable jobs in their own city. City officials say the move is opening doors for more opportunities for the city's future.

Company officials say the possibility of expanding the location could become reality down the road.

The company announced its move to Arab in March and site preparation started directly after the announcement.
