JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. - Jackson County Schools has a new superintendent. Kevin Dukes, a former school principal, was sworn in on Wednesday at Skyline School.

Dukes won the office running as a republican and was part of a clean-sweep win for republicans in Jackson County.

Both of his parents were educators, and Dukes has high hopes for the school system.

"I think we have the capability to move this system forward and to do things that the system has never seen before," said Dukes. "And it starts with partnerships, and we've got several schools in the system. Getting them all on board and heading in the same direction, the same focus, and that's what I plan on doing."

Dukes was previously the principal of Skyline School.
