JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - An unexpected find in Jackson County. TVA was testing some sonar equipment in Mud Creek near Hollywood when they uncovered a mystery. They found a 1994 GMC 1500 pickup truck under water. It had apparently been there a while.

Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it’s suspicious because the tag had been switched on it. The last tag was from 2005 and it had no insurance on it.

The next step is to find out if it’s ever been reported stolen. “If not, it’s just a recovered piece of property from the middle of the river. If nobody claims it then I guess the wrecker company will keep it, sell it, whatever,” says Harnen. “There’s not much to it but scrap at this point.”

Harnen says they have identified who the truck belongs to, but can’t release that information yet.
