Marshall County woman pleads guilty in nephew’s death in car crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. – A Marshall County woman pleaded guilty Tuesday as her trial was about to begin for her nephew’s death.

Chasity Garner was charged with manslaughter in the death of 5-year-old Chaysen Garner.  Prosecutors say Chasity Garner was driving under the influence when she crashed her SUV at the intersection of Alabama 69 and Union Grove Road in Guntersville in March 2014.

Chaysen was thrown from the vehicle, and rushed to Huntsville Hospital where he died.  Another passenger in the vehicle was not physically injured.

Tuesday, Chasity Garner pleaded guilty to manslaughter.  A judge will sentence her in June.
