GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — This month Bassmaster Magazine released its list of The 100 Best Bass Fishing Lakes of 2015. Lake Guntersville was ranked in the top 10 again this year. The popular lake has received high rankings for the past three years. This year the lake was ranked as the sixth best lake in the country.
According to the magazine, when they received opinions about the lake many consider the lake to be the best in the country, but some people referred to the lake as over-pressured and overrated.
When asked about her own opinion about the ranking, Marshall County Convention & Visitors Bureau President Katy Norton said, “Lake Guntersville is a challenging body of water to fish and if you aren’t up to the challenge, you might want to take your gear and go somewhere else. But, if you are game; if you look forward to pitting your skills against one of the best bass lakes in the country and you want to take home the big one, come see us at Lake Guntersville. Just do your research. We are a lake that has healthy grass cover in early summer through late September and the frog bite is best in October. You can fish Lake G a million different ways and have success and you can hit the water and not get a bite all day.”
The ranking is lower than it has been in previous years, but the lake continues to be a popular spot for some of the nation’s best anglers.
