JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. – An employee meeting will cause the Jackson County Courthouse to delay opening this morning. The doors should open at 8:45 a.m.
The employees will be discussing the future of the county and budget issues. This after voters in Jackson county voted down a proposed sales tax increase. 3,947 voted “no” and voted 2,622 “yes.”
The increase was to supplement the budget, making up for a significant shortfall. Now, county commissioners are having to make cuts in an attempt to balance the budget.
