Man arrested in Jackson County shooting

HOLLYWOOD, Ala. — Authorities in Jackson County are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday afternoon.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen says the shooting happened in the 3,000 block of County Road 116 near Hollywood.  Deputies found James Horne, 52, with injuries to the side of his head from an apparent gunshot.   According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Horne was transported to Erlanger Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

51-year-old Verlon Wesley Ramsey of Hollywood was arrested at the scene and charged with Assault 1st degree. No bond has been set.
