GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- After months of work put in by hundreds of people, a wounded soldier's new home is ready for him and his family to make their own.

It's not every day you see a hoard of various people gathered in someone's front yard - complete with a podium and a multitude of American flags. The home is in Guntersville, in Marshall County.

It's also not every day the City's Mayor, police officers, construction and landscape company owners, members of the armed forces, and countless other organizations group outside your neighbor's home early on a Saturday.

This particular home is special, though. It was built by many, many hands. "We have over 300 volunteers. Three hundred volunteers who either donated money, donated time. We have people from all over the country that's donated," Chris Garmon says.

Garmon is the new homeowner's dad, and says people from all over the world and right here in the Tennessee Valley put forth the effort to build the home. It was all for one person and his family.

Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Corey Garmon served overseas. "Corey stepped on an IED July 12, lost both of his legs, and has about 30 percent use of his left arm," Chris Garmon says. "We knew he would have to have a handicap accessible home, and so the community got together and several of the local businesses, and here we are today."

It has taken months, but Saturday marks the finish line. The Garmons' new home is finally finished. "You know, I haven't been everywhere, but I've been away from here, and it's not like this, everywhere you go," Corey Garmon says, "It's jut something special."

With the hard work of many hands and hearts, this home is a reflection of pride, patriotism, and the willingness to help.

"We're blessed," Garmon says.
