WATCH: Missing 11-year-old girl from DeKalb County found dead

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — The search for 11-year-old Amberly Barnett has yielded tragic results. Authorities confirmed that Amberly’s body was found Saturday morning at around 6:30 a.m.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Nick Welden said that due to their current investigation he could not release much information. “But I can tell you that we are diligently, diligently pursuing different avenues and the Lord willing, we will have answers in the upcoming days. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as we move forward during this tragic event.”

Amberly was last seen at her aunt’s house on County Rd 822 in Collinsville at around 6 p.m.  Friday.

A dark-colored SUV was reportedly seen at the home around the time she disappeared.
