DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said a man has been arrested for the beating death of a woman after the two were on a multi-day meth binge.
Sheriff Harris said Doug Minor, 32, of Fort Payne, is charged with the murder of Bobbie Lynn Ross, 35, also of Fort Payne. Harris said Minor admitted to authorities that he and Ross were on a multi-day meth binge when an argument occurred, causing him to hit her. “He did finally admit that he did strike her, he said twice in the face with his fist,” Sheriff Harris says.
A preliminary pathologist report determined that Ross died of blunt force trauma to the head, Harris said.
After a search Minor was found with Norma Jo Grinnell in Cherokee County. Right now, she’s not being charged in the case. “She’s a victim in this as far as we know, of course it’s still early in this investigation, if anything else surfaces then we’ll look at that,” Sheriff Harris says. Minor is charged with her kidnapping and assault.
Sheriff Harris says the case is still under investigation. “A lot of man hours from multiple agencies have been put into this case so far to bring it to this point. We are continuing to interview possible witnesses and collecting evidence.”
Sheriff’s Office officials says Minor has been arrested multiple times by their agency in the past.
