DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting where one person was injured in Henagar Thursday night.

According to the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), a call came in at 6:27 p.m. stating that a woman had been shot in the 100 block of Kelly Drive in Henagar.

Henagar Police Department (HPD) and DCSO responded to the scene.

After arriving, DCSO said officers and deputies provided medical aid to the woman and she was transported to Erlanger Medical Center.

Authorities say they obtained information that the suspect had fled into a nearby wooded area, so they established a perimeter.

DCSO was able to locate the suspect in the woods and identified him as 62-year-old Joseph Earl Cobb.

Cobb was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
