UNION GROVE, Ala. – Several email addresses associated with Marshall County Schools have been sent phishing emails.

In a Facebook post Saturday morning that has since been deleted, Brindlee Mountain Primary School said the phishing email asked parents to click a link to reset a password.

BMPS said to delete the email and NOT change the password using that link; any and all changes to student accounts will be made by Marshall County Schools email administrators or the IT department.

News 19 reached out to Marshall County Schools Superintendent Cindy Wigley for comment. She released the following statement:

“A phishing email has been sent to several emails ending with marshallk12.org.  Individuals receiving the email have been instructed not to reply to the email, to delete it, and change their password immediately.

The sending email account has been suspended.  The system has not been breached.
Recent trainings have provided  instructions for situations such as these.  We will continue to educate all stakeholders on proper Cybersecurity.”
