BOAZ, Ala. – A man who has been missing for almost two weeks from Boaz is in jail  for missing a court date and resisting arrest.

Boaz Police investigators put out a missing persons alert for Ronnie Gene Colbert earlier this week, who was last seen leaving his apartment November 15. Thursday morning, Chief Josh Gaskin said investigators learned Colbert missed court with the City of Boaz on November 8. A warrant was issued for his arrest this week.

Gaskin said investigators learned information that led them to the home of  Terry Denise Smith, age 64, of Mt Vernon Homes, Boaz.

He said Smith allowed investigators to come inside her home and denied knowing where Colbert was, and she told investigators she hadn’t spoke to him in months. Gaskin said investigators heard someone cough from a nearby room and asked who else was in the home, but Smith declined to answer.

Investigators found Colbert hiding in the home. They arrested him for the outstanding warrants and resisting arrest. Terry Denise Smith was placed under arrest for obstructing a governmental operation and resisting arrest.
