MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT)--  During the month of February, the Marshall County District Attorney's office is offering an amnesty period for the those who have outstanding worthless checks.

"It's an opportunity for somebody that's made some mistakes with regard to their finances, have written bad checks, that we say we are going to give you an opportunity to make that right," said District Attorney Steve Marshall.

When the month is up, those who haven't made things right, will get a visit from a sheriff's deputy or a police officer.

"Then we will have a county wide roundup where law enforcement agencies from throughout the county will come together for those people who didn't take advantage of the chance that amnesty provides to be able to pick them up and put them in jail."

If you have a worthless check that hasn't been made right, you can go to the district attorney's office in Guntersville and pay.   You have until February 28.
