ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) –   The Arab Police and Fire Departments were on the scene of a suspicious device at Marvin’s Building Materials on Brindlee Mountain Parkway on Sunday.

Arab  Assistant Police Chief Shane Washburn told us that a “pipe-bomb type device” was found at the store around 4:30 p.m.  Washburn told us it appeared to be filled with acid.

The substance inside the canister was determined to be the liquid plumber Liquid Fire. Police believe that someone may have attempted to shoplift the Liquid Fire to make methamphetamine. They say the canister could have been abandoned once it started leaking.
